The Issues
Cost of Living
The cost of living is rising for food, gas, oil, health care, housing, electricity, and childcare. As your State Representative, I will fight to bring down these expenses wherever possible.
Public Education and School Funding
As a former educator, I support a better education for NH children. I am strongly opposed to all efforts to divert public funding to parents whose children attend private or religious schools, or are home schooled. I’m outraged by the state’s shifting of costs for education to the towns and local taxpayers. Now is the time for the state to invest heavily in our children.
Housing You Can Afford
Dedicated and hardworking people in our communities, like nurses, machinists, teachers, firefighters, police officers, EMT’s and young parents, deserve to be able to live in or near where they are employed. We desperately need more affordable housing. I support the Housing Champions Program, that the Republicans just killed, to reward towns that are proactive.
Defending Democracy
It should be easy for as many people to vote as possible. I will work to pass legislation that reverses the recent Republican bill banning the use of student IDs for college students who want to vote in the community where they live. I oppose the practice of purging voters from the town voting list if they haven’t voted in the past five years.
Property Taxes
We need a commonsense property tax policy that doesn’t overtax those least able to afford it.
Income Tax and Sales Tax
I do not support either an income tax or sales tax in NH.
Healthcare Access and Cost
Everyone should be able to access and pay for healthcare when they need it. We must protect Medicaid and invite more affordable Medicare plans to our state.
Environment
The natural beauty of NH, including our lakes, mountains and forests, must be preserved for future generations.
Live Free
I support the right of all people to love and worship freely.
